Fishing was an important resource for the people of Masio. It was a considerable and cheap integration of protein provided by the animals for slaughter, rarely eaten, as normally intended for sale.

The fishing was especially done from the shore, because only few people had a boat («burcé»), governed by a single oar. Among the main fishing techniques there were: “balance” (fishnet with side 1 up to 4 m, stretched by two curved rods of wood or iron with weights at the base. The structure is supported by a pole), “long line” or «aniola» (the line with bait was launched from shore with one end tied to a weight to fix it on the bottom, while the other was fixed to the shore); “lobster pot” or «bartavé» (funnel fishnet tightened by metal circles, was placed on the bottom of the river with an opening in favour of water current), “fishing threshing” (semicircle with fishnet bag and pole, it was used under the banks by two fishermen, one on a boat and the other beating the surface of the water); trammel (rarely used and poaching).

You can catch chub («quaia-star»), barbel, carp, pigo, rudd, eel, bleak, catfish, pike and bluegill.
